Blog Intro- The best of Alma, Co to share with you

I thought sharing more private details here would be a great way to connect on a personal level with me (Yvonna) as the owner and host. I am 100% not a writer, I regularly make spelling and grammar mistakes but here’s to not being AI and totally human! On our social we have turned to a managed model because keeping up the demand plus trends with a family, job, side business, etc was simply too much. This allows us to reach more audiences and start conversations without being tied to it fully. I cannot do it all alone and have no problem admitting it.

My plans to share here will be simple, a little more personal and behind the scenes. I want to highlight the community plus what we love about the area. I can also go into more details about why we designed things the way we did and link things better to reference to guests or followers.

An exciting piece of news from our area is that we have a new PUB!!! The Dyer Public House in Fairplay, Co. Just about a 15 min drive from Haute Haus and Skiers Right in Alma, CO. This is pretty exciting to us as we are currently living abroad in England for work, if you didn’t know that about us. We have lived here since June of 2023 and it’s exciting to think that we now have a frontier pub to call our own when we go back! Pub life is such a fun culture to experience here and I love that we can continue it on when we visit the cabins. They serve Colorado Cask Ales, and other beverages, which is a very traditional style beer here in England. I know where to go now when I want to transport back to the English countryside for a cask ale! I’ll continue to share more about them as their operation develops along with my other favorite must do’s in the area!

Some behind the scenes news, we’re updating our original cabin, Skiers Right, slowly as budget allows. I can’t wait to give it more attention that it deserves! This cabin is where my babies have spent most of their time since we moved to England before Haute Haus was completed. It’s such a homey space and we want to keep that feeling while making it also feel more connected to Haute Haus. We really want the property to feel like one even though both cabins are independent neighbors.

I’ll leave you with this dose of reality. My kids (age almost 4 and almost 2.5 years) are just getting off a long sick week and Darin (my husband) just flew out yesterday to the states for work plus to CO to winterize the cabins. They have been lethargic, feverish, and sensitive so work has essentially slowed to a stop last week. We are feeling better and I currently have a beautiful girl drawing on my lap and my son building with blocks behind me as I finish these last sentences. Most days we are up quite late running the cabins and various endeavors long after they go to sleep but since we can’t be in our cabins often at the moment it really warms my heart when other family get to share our space. Seeing kids playing in the snow or falling in love with exploring the woods is such a beautiful privilege that I hope to keep sharing!!!
