Hi, We’re the family behind the cabins
My husband Darin and I (Yvonna) are passionate world explorers. We have always enjoyed sharing homes and meeting new people in adventurous places and have never been big fans of hotels. In 2015 we started our first Airbnb in Pismo Beach, CA and quickly realized that we truly enjoy hosting and making connections with others on their own journeys. Since then, we’ve hosted hundreds of travelers from California to Louisiana and made life-long friendships along the way.
In 2021, our little family got a bit bigger and we felt the need to find a “forever” space to home base out of. We picked the beautiful Colorado Rockies as an accessible, yet remote place to enjoy regularly with our children. We fell in love with the people and culture of Alma, ultimately deciding to purchase 1 cabin with 2 lots on the south side of the Hoosier Pass, overlooking Placer Valley. Since then, we’ve updated the first cabin (Skier’s Right Lodge) and built a second cabin (Haute Haus) for the enjoyment of our little family and other like minded souls who want to experience the Rockies without some of the hustle and bustle of bigger ski towns. We look forward to sharing our elevated escape with you.

Our Approach
When we travel we can always tell when a host is engaged, passionate, and appreciative of us as their guests. We are very focused on creating that sense of belonging for our own guests and want our space to feel curated for your enjoyment. We will always engage with you to ensure we understand your wants and needs on your holiday, plus we are thrilled to spread the word about beautiful Alma and all it has to offer. Our hospitality always includes the option to coordinate external comforts such as grocery delivery, massage therapy*, and activity guidance. We just want you to have the best time and we love to spread the word about our favorite local businesses.
*While we can’t guarantee availability of these services in advance, we do work with several amazing local businesses to try and make them as easy to schedule as possible without a concierge fee on top of the service.
Dream it
It all started in the Swiss Alps with a vision of two cabins in one lush mountain setting (the origin for the name “Haute Haus”). We have lots of family members and there are not very many places that can comfortably accommodate us! The two cabins let us host groups of up to 18!
Build it
After updating Skier’s Right Lodge, we broke ground on Haute Haus in April 2022. It certainly wasn’t an easy journey with a young family, but we are finally ready to host in early 2024!
Enjoy it
We are avid Telemark skiers and can’t get enough of both the amazing local resorts and nearly unlimited backcountry skiing in an area surrounded by 14’ers. In the summer we head out for dirt or mountain biking, rafting, and gold medal fishing. All easily within an hour!
